In the beguiling Cypriot town of Polis, where three thousand years ago the ancient Kingdom of Aphrodite flourished, local tradition maintains that Aphrodite, the goddess of love, first met Adonis. Struck by each other’s beauty, they fell in love – a star-crossed love so famous and passionate that no less than Shakespeare wrote his first poem about it. Set in the village square against the town’s old school this styled shoot offers a modern twist to the traditional Cypriot wedding: a luxurious banquet fit for a Goddess!
Our wedding planner, Flambouayia Events, designed a reception for four using the eternal colours of sea and sand, the same that dominate the natural landscape: gold-rimmed glasses to catch the sun and blue candles to kindle once the sun goes down. Wearing a divinely feminine, ivy-embroidered gown by dress couturier Complice Stalo Theodorou, Andria captures the striking spirit of Aphrodite, transforming the understated loggia of the old school into an exquisite canvas. The bride’s bouquet – untamed yet elegant, just like the beautiful landscape that embraces the town – contains white and blue delphinium and golden craspedia that evoke the sea and the abundant high-summer sun. In Polis, after all, seductive cicada serenades, open courtyards, and a gentle iodine-laced breeze, promise nothing but happy endings and timeless romance!
