Among perennial olive trees and countless vineyards, the Stavros tis Minthis Monastery keeps its magical and unaltered charm along with eight centuries of history. Set in the rolling countryside close to Tsada and within the grounds of the exclusive Minthis Resort, the almost castle-like monastery is lined with ancient olive groves as far as the eye can see.
This shoot was curated with the intention of representing elegance and grace. The Minthis monastery offers beautifully characterful light stone walls. Diffused through the cypress trees streams the most beautiful light. We drew inspiration from the surrounding environment – the textures, the trees, the colours and the soft light – to create a photoshoot that feels authentic and well-balanced to the surroundings.
The bouquet was designed with wild and edgy elements through the combination of textures and colour. Pops of colour were used to balance – but not overpower – the subdued tones of the stone, earth and olive-green. Dried natural and dyed flowers, including foraged conium (hemlock) blooms which are found in abundance here, offer a less traditional option to the bridal bouquet. A hand dyed silk ribbon was added to give an element of movement and to soften the edgy elements within the bouquet. The pomegranates, an ancient symbol of fertility, beauty and abundance in Cypriot folklore, added another traditional Cypriot reference.
We opted for a simple hairstyle, because we wanted to place the focus on a handmade gold-leaf headpiece by Netherland-based designer Lovely Elysian. To create a sense of whimsy that juxtaposed with the monastic character of the environment, we dressed our bride in a gorgeously romantic and exclusive Muse by Berta gown with a long leg opening to add that extra bit of flair and femininity to the whole look. Our bride needed very little make-up so a dewy complexion was created with soft gold shades and pale pinks.
The graceful vibe of this shoot seamlessly blends lush countryside, history, Cypriot architecture, and contemporary flair. The Minthis Monastery is the perfect dreamscape for the romantic soul who is looking for authenticity. Here, the peaceful, almost neutral, landscape can harmoniously coexist with luxury, making it the perfect location for swoon-worthy wedding portraits!
